Soaring freight rates, frequent warehouse explosions, and continuous dumping of containers: the freight forwarding industry faces the dual pressures of 12 consecutive increases and more than 10,000 routes

Recently, the ongoing crisis in the Red Sea region has had a profound impact on the global shipping market. Coupled with the early arrival of the peak season, severe congestion at key ports in Asia, the threat of tariff policies in many countries, and a wave of strikes at ports in Europe and North America, the global container shipping market continues to show a strong upward trend.

According to the latest data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange, the Shanghai Export Container Comprehensive Freight Index released on June 28 has reached 3714.32 points, up 6.9% from the previous period, and has achieved a record of 12 consecutive weeks of increases.

This trend has not slowed down since July, but has been further intensified with the release of new price increase notices by shipping companies.

The soaring freight rates are making freight forwarders complain!

A colleague said: I just consulted the customer about the price the day before, and the freight increased again the next day. I really don’t know how to quote the customer!

And because of the shortage of space and containers, the space booked by freight forwarders from shipping companies has been frequently cancelled.

Not only that, a freight forwarder recently said that the shipping companies have started to dump containers again! The June 13th (voyage) dumped the 20th, and the 20th dumped the 26th!

Not only that, facing this severe situation, some large freight forwarding companies have issued notices for timely collection of payments in order to ensure stable cash flow.

One of the companies clearly stated that in view of the complexity and uncertainty of the current shipping market and the continued high freight rates of shipping companies (the freight rate of ordinary ships has approached the US$8,500 mark)

The company handles more than 600 bulk cargoes and full container loads every month. To ensure the normal operation of the business and the rights and interests of both parties, we urge all customers to make payments on time as agreed to avoid unnecessary disputes and losses.
